Adam C. Kerbs

Owner and CEO

Adam founded CBI Security in 1994 when he was 20 years old. The company began with two officers and quickly gained contracts for Salt Lake City, the State of Utah and Discover Card. Adam has worked in every capacity, including working shifts as one of the original security officers in 1994. He especially enjoyed his work in the area of personal protection. He provided personal protection for such recognizable celebrities as Carol Burnett, Bill Cosby, Muhammad Ali and Della Reese. Adam became a highly sought after executive protection agent, because he was able to provide his service without being intrusive. CBI was able to obtain contracts to provide executive protection to many production companies. In fact, one of the first contracts obtained was the popular television series "Touched by an Angel" in 1997. Because of Adam's contacts in local government, the film industry and corporate America CBI began to grow rapidly. In 2002 CBI was proud to provide security for the Olympics in Salt Lake City and then began expanding the business to locations in Arizona and Idaho. Currently CBI employs over 450 people across three states. Adam's 30 years of experience, direction and leadership has taken CBI from a small local company to one of the largest security contractors in the west.

Derek Evans Senior Vice President

Senior Vice President

Derek has over 32 years in the security industry. He has worked as an investigator in covert operations and has been a consultant to clients of high risk security environments. Prior to joining CBI, Derek was a Vice President for one of the nation's largest international security companies. His knowledge of all aspects of the security industry is well known. He has been recognized nationally for his expertise and knowledge of the sales and marketing aspect of the industry. His ability to grow companies into regional and national dominance is what has placed him in such high demand within the industry.Derek is the Senior Vice President of CBI and has been with the company for 17 years. He has total responsibility for all sales and marketing efforts within the corporation.

Cooper has been with CBI Security for over 20 years. He was hired as a security officer in 1997 when he was 17 years old. He has held every position in the company including:security officer, scheduling supervisor, operations manager and human resource director. As Branch Manager for CBI, Cooper is responsible for the physical security division in Utah. He oversees CBI's quality assurance program. His experience in virtually all aspects of physical security is a great asset to CBI. Cooper has been instrumental in expanding CBI's security operations by introducing innovative programs that have greatly reduced CBI's officer turnover rate. Cooper has been credited with introducing officer recognition programs that have changed the way security professionals interact with contract officers. Cooper's ability to think "outside the box" has made him a highly sought after security manager and operations specialist. CBI is fortunate to have such a recognized individual as part of their management team.

Eric

Eric "Rico" Jensen

Operations Manager

Commander Rico Jensen retired from Law Enforcement after working for 20 years as a Police Officer for the South Salt Lake Police Department. Throughout his police career, Rico served as a Narcotics Detective (4 yrs), Metro Gang Unit Detective (4 yrs), and SWAT Commander/operator (16 yrs). He was later promoted to Sergeant and became the Commander over the SWAT team and the Firearms Instructor cadre. While working as an officer, Rico was also teaching as an adjunct instructor at the Utah Police Academy, where he taught firearms and all scenario-based training for 13 yrs. After retiring, Rico then began to work for a non-profit organization, Operation Underground Railroad, as the manager of operations. Rico was traveling throughout the world working with numerous law enforcement agencies to combat child sex trafficking. Due to his experience and leadership abilities, Rico was then selected and assigned as the Commander of the Executive Protection group for CBI, where he manages and trains officers of the highest caliber within the organization. Rico continues to bring his work ethic, skill set and experience to the officers and clients of CBI.

Kemp Barney Corporate Training and Development

Corporate Training and Development

Kemp brings 31 years of military experience in training, administration, human resources, payroll, logistics and operations to CBI. He currently supervises the corporate training program, continuing education, site compliance, and EMT/Medical certifications. Kemp is also the Patrol Commander and oversees the Patrol Division in Utah. Kemp supervises the corporate online training academy and quality assurance program. His experience in virtually all aspects of physical security is a great asset to CBI. Kemp has developed and implemented a multitude of new training programs for CBI, expanding CBI's security operations and taking our officers to a new level of professionalism. Kemp also brings extensive knowledge of weapons training to CBI. Kemp holds an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician license, and is also a licensed instructor and coordinator for the Bureau of Emergency Medical Services, as well as a Basic Life Support instructor. In his spare time he teaches EMT, CPR and AEMT classes. Kemp brings a variety of special skill sets to CBI and is constantly developing new ways to improve the quality of our officers.

Controller

John graduated from the University of Utah, College of Business, with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Accounting. He has been working for over 20 years in the field of accounting. This includes his 3 years tour in Germany, Europe working as an accountant. He has been a valuable member of CBI Security as the Controller of Corporate Finance for over 6 years, and enjoys serving clients and employees.

Arizona Branch Manager

Kama has 30 years of experience in the security industry. Prior to joining CBI, Kama was Vice President of Operations for a large regional security contractor. Kama is a customer service expert and is well versed in security management and operational service delivery protocols. As the Branch Manager for CBI's Arizona office, Kama has full management and leadership responsibilities. Kama's expertise in service delivery has made her a great asset to CBI management team.
