Salt Lake’s Favorite Outdoor Summer Events

Summer eventAt first glance, Utah might seem like it’s full of sleepy, quiet towns. But the truth is that once the summer heats up, Utah knows how to party. The Wasatch range is dotted with fireworks, concerts, and huge gatherings of vendors every weekend in the summer.

Here are a few of the favorite events that happen every summer in Salt Lake and the surrounding area:

The Downtown Farmer’s Market

Salt Lake’s weekly farmer’s markets is one of the best you’ll ever see. Every Saturday from June to October, Pioneer Park is packed to the gills with fresh produce, local artisans, and specialty products. Most days you can also find featured performing artists. Over 100 vendors from the Salt Lake area and surrounding counties can be found here, and often, you’ll find some of the area’s future standout businesses right at their beginning phases. For over two decades, this market has been growing and thriving, creating a hub of community activities blended with sustainable, conscious food education.

Salt Lake’s Twilight Concert Series

The Twilight Concert series is one of the most highly anticipated events of the summer. Each year, this series attracts world-famous talent like Beck, The Nationals, and Death Cab for Cutie. This year, we’ll be seeing neo-soul sensation Solange, and The Roots, among other amazing artists. Since the Twilight series is a community-funded event, it only costs $5 to get in.

Snowbird’s Oktoberfest

During the winter, Snowbird is one of the best ski resorts in the world. But during the summer, the resort puts on amazing events to keep the fun going all year long. One of the most notable is their Oktoberfest, which occupies the weekends from August to October. Snowbird’s Oktoberfest has been voted one of the 10 Best Oktoberfests by Men’s Journal Magazine. This event features authentic German cuisine, locally crafted beer, and one of the only beard and mustache competitions in the west!

Days of ‘47 and Native American Celebration in the Park Pow Wow

During a statewide holiday in Utah (July 24th), locals celebrate their roots. Pioneer Day marks the anniversary of the western settlers’ arrival in the Salt Lake Valley, and it’s celebrated with parades, fairs, and fireworks. You can also find a cultural celebration by local Native American tribes in Liberty Park downtown, one of the biggest powwows in the state.

Utah Arts Fest

Liberty Square is home to Utah’s modern art celebration, June 22-25th. The Utah Arts Fest features literary arts, visual displays, and heart-stopping live performances. Numerous workshops run by artists give the whole family a chance to get involved. Everything from battles of the bands to film festivals to comedy troupes put their best work into the public eye.

CBI is one of the most trusted names in event security.
