A majority of the temporary security services that we provide at CBI Security are for special events, which may only take place for a few days, or even only one day, but for which safety and security are crucial aspects. Due to the vast experience that we have with providing our services to these special events, we are able to offer advice as to steps that events can take to enhance their security, and the safety of their guests.
Determine the boundaries of the event
First of all, particularly for outdoor events, you need to determine what is actually a part of the area that you are trying to keep secure. Defining your boundaries allows you to set up a perimeter around your event that you can base your other security decisions off of. This is a crucial first step to setting up proper security protocols to follow throughout the rest of the event. Without these boundaries, there is too much confusion about what is actually a part of the event and what is not, which makes a security officer’s job very hard.
Alert local agencies
When getting an event set up, it is important to let local agencies, particularly law enforcement, know what is going on with your event. This means getting them plans for the event layout, and detailing what the tone and expectations for the event are. This keeps misunderstandings from happening between local agencies and your event, and makes it easier to properly communicate with them if you need a more authoritative presence than a third-party security force.
Have medical aid on standby
The purpose of having security forces at events is to ensure safety, whether that be for guests, staff, or vendors. Each of our officers at CBI Security are trained to administer certain medical aid procedures, such as CPR. However, it is definitely worth having a specified emergency medical technician (EMT) on standby to better ensure safety.
